Mattaponi Canoe & Kayak provides guided paddling excursons on both tidal and non-tidal reaches of the Mattaponi, Pamunkey and Chickahominy Rivers, and Dragon Swamp. Our trips are geared to take advantage of the rich natural history of the region, giving the participant much more than just another float down the river.
Come join us for an adventurous journey through very remote, wilderness-like passages of the upper Mattaponi River. Or ... if something a little more leisurely suits your fancy ... try one of our sunset paddles at the Pamunkey Indian Reservation, where wild rice marshes, waterfowl and Native American and Colonial history abound.
Costs for our guided tours range from $20 to $50/person, depending on the particular trip. All guided trips are led by ACA (American Canoe Association) certified paddling instructors. Participants must be 8 years of age or older and should be in reasonably good health for moderately strenuous activity.
We schedule "open" guided trips throughout the season, as well as provide private group tours. Below are links to four of our more popular trips. Each is geared to be approximately a half day in length. Check back with us for our trip schedule for the 2005 season (due out in early April).
